You might want to avoid overpriced restaurants. If you want the experience, here are some tips on where to have a good dinner.

• It is a must that you look for crowds. Most often, this is a gauge as to whether or not the restaurant is good or bad. An empty restaurant will often signal a bad thing however this is not always the case. You can encounter a talk of the town restaurant with bad food but always full of people. Of course you can easily tell which one is which.

• New Yorkers are people who never sleep. They eat whenever their tummy calls for food. You can find thai food during midnight. As a tourist, you can take advantage of the availability especially for those who love to eat at night.

• Aside from pizza, you need to try New York’s bagels. It is said to be the best in the world. If you want something quick yet healthy then this is the thing that you want to take in. This is a perfect alternative if you want to avoid fast food. Many people like this because it’s affordable.

• In case you don’t like the food then don’t hesitate to send it back to the kitchen. Locals normally speak their minds if they don’t like the food. Don’t let manners hinder you from having a good meal. To get better service, some even go as far as getting arrested.

• For those who are planning to eat at good restaurants, if possible make sure to do reservations. This is ideal to avoid waiting for a table. There are certain dining places that tend to get crowded.

• Tip is a big deal when dining at any New York restaurant. In calculating the tip, the best way to do it is doubling the tax. It is also customary to give 20% of the actual bill. If you are dining in groups, normally the waiter will include the tip in the total bill. For groups less than four, it is left on the tab. Don’t give a tip if the waiter is not deserving but you might want to leave 5%.
