Though for many people who live in this vibrant, exciting and cosmopolitan city, Bristol often feels like the centre of the world, occasionally everyone needs a change of scenery. Luckily, the city’s airport offers flights to a wide range of destinations around the world, making it easy to travel from Bristol to anywhere else on the globe.

Book in advance

One of the key tips for cheap and easy travel is to book early. Whether it’s the train to London or a flight to New York booking well in advance can save you serious money.

Not only will forward planning ease the burden on your wallet, you’ll also be more likely to find flights, trains and busses at convenient times, avoiding the need for that dreaded 3am wake up call at the start of your break.

Look for alternative airports in the UK

If you can’t reach your chosen destination on a direct flight from Bristol, have a look at some other local airports to see if they have a route to suit you.

Low cost airlines like Flybe fly to a range of exotic destinations from nearby airports like East Midlands, Birmingham, Exeter and Cardiff, giving you loads of option for finding a great value flight to a fantastic destination.

Look for alternative airports at your destination

Likewise, a lot of European destinations are actually a lot closer together than you think, so if you can’t find a flight direct from Bristol, have a look to see which other destinations might be convenient to fly to.

In some cases, like Vienna and Bratislava, alternative airports may not even be in the same country, so try to think a little outside the box when booking your flights.

Leave plenty of time

One of the simplest ways to make any journey easier and less stressful is to leave plenty of time. Though we all lead busy lives and sometimes it feels like there are simply not enough hours in the day, cutting it fine when it comes to catching a plane, train or coach will only leave you flustered, stressed and possibly without the holiday you’ve been looking forward to.

Whether you’re heading to LA, Rio, Paris or Berlin, booking early, leaving plenty of time and looking for alternatives will all help to make your trip cheaper, easier and a lot more enjoyable.
