Summer

Giacometti Exhibition, Grimaldi Forum, Monaco: until August 29th

A major retrospective of the work of sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti, with a display of almost 230 works. One of the most important sculptors of the 20th century, the Swiss-born Giacometti was influenced by Cubism and Surrealism, but it was after WWII that he created the sculptures for which he is most famous, elongated, slim figures, either walking or standing, usually cast in bronze.

Artists’ Jewellery, Grimaldi Forum, Monaco: until August 29th

On show at the Grimaldi Forum simultaneously is this rich collection of contemporary jewellery created by many world-renowned artists, including Picasso, Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, Niki de Saint-Phalle, Keith Haring and Louis Bourgeois, among others.  Curated by collector Diane Venet, whose passion began in 1967 with a Lichtenstein brooch, this presents a unique opportunity to see some of the finest and most dazzling examples of contemporary international jewellery. A not-to-be-missed event on the French Riviera.

Nocturnes Of The Villa Ephrussi De Rothschild, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat: until August 31st

Grand Season Series,  Opéra de Monte-Carlo: 10th October

Music lovers will delight in this musical performance at Monaco’s famed Opéra de Monte-Carlo. Performed by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Ton Koopman, this celebration of the golden age of Baroque features music by Gluck, Haydn and Mozart.

Il Corsaro, Auditorium Rainier III, Monaco: 12th & 14th December

By Giuseppe Verdi, this three act opera is based on Lord Byron’s 1814 poem The Corsair, set in Greece and Turkey, and is performed by the Chorus of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.
