Where not to go for Easter? In Sweden, to cite one example. Who knows maybe the list goes on with Denmark, Finland, Norway, Holland, Belgium. They are places that I have visited during the Easter period and I would say not to see them for Easter. Returning to Sweden, it is certainly beautiful in its topical two seasons, Winter and Summer. Spring however is probably the worst of it. Late March to late April so to speak. That period which usually falls in the Passover.

If you are Catholic and want to experience the highlights of the Holy Week, relive the Passion of Christ taking in the atmosphere and the authenticity carefully avoid Sweden because you will not find any of that. If you’re not Catholic and your Easter is equivalent to simply gazing upon the chocolate in new and unusual zoomorphic forms or otherwise rounded corners Sweden should be avoided anyway because this is the non season. It is not snowy but it is also not yet the time of the awakening of nature. So it is no longer winter high season but still low season.

What color predominates in nature? Brown. Touristic activities? Many are closed for holidays. The historical villages of fishermen? They are deserted. Prices? The usual ones which are high. That’s when you ask yourself since the prices are high anyway I could at least come in July or in December? If you’re already there it’s too late now. You’re in the right place at the wrong time trapped in the limbo of non Swedish season.

In short, even if Easter falls in the spring and evokes you either physically or religiously, remember that under the label of Spring is part of a large series of atmospheric phenomena. Spring can still be like Winter or Summer or may even be neither one. Also saying Easter holidays does not always equate spring break. Therefore for Easter we do not recommend going to the North and advice for all other directions, East, South, West. For Spring there is that brief period of time when the weather does not defy the expectations created by the calendar thus you should really go where you want, including Sweden.
