Having a degree of flexibility with a holiday can mean that you can really lower your budget without having to lower your holiday expectations and experience. Holidaying out of season doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the sunshine either. Plenty of places are still incredibly warm throughout September and as all the kids will be heading back to school, you can expect a slightly quieter holiday too!

Planning your holidays after school terms begin can be great, both for cheaper options and the fact that you won’t have to be sharing the pool and sun loungers with screaming, splashing kids! Opting to fly midweek can lower the prices too, and finding the cheapest flights for your preferred destination can sometimes mean going a little further afield than normal to reach the airport, but if you are able to be flexible on which airports you fly to and from, you can often find much cheaper flights.

Many people prefer travelling abroad out of season, especially as the weather in Britain tends to be a little less sunny than we’d like! The temperature in places such as Turkey and Spain can reach highs of 32 degrees during July and August, so for those of you that love the sunshine and want a good tan, but don’t want to spend a week in unbearable heat, September is often an ideal time to travel. Turkey sees temperatures averaging 29 degrees during September, so you can enjoy all the benefits of the hot sunshine but can look forward to slightly cooler evenings and of course, fewer children splashing around in the pool!

For those of you who want to find cheap flights somewhere more exotic, Florida is ideal if you are looking for year round sunshine. You can plan a holiday out of season and still be guaranteed that famous Florida sun. The temperature in Goa, West India, drops during the summer months and this is also their rainy season, so a holiday to Goa during term time will give you the chance to really experience the Indian sunshine.

Being flexible with dates, times and even destination and holidaying off season can mean that you’re able to find the cheapest flights available and go on the holiday of a lifetime without the need to break the bank!
