My best friend is in love with Paris, so her visiting several times, helps in knowing what to see, what to do and what not to do in Paris. This time, however, she realized that France is not just Paris and wondered what she could get to see near Paris (Disneyland excluded).

So this time she was granted a day off from Paris and visited the Château de Pierrefonds, perhaps because she read this old post of Nemo. The castle is located about 90 km north-east of Paris and my friend got on the train, departing from the Gare du Nord in Paris about an hour’s journey to the station of Compiègne.

From Compiègne in Pierrefonds she took a taxi because there were not many races between the station and the castle (about 20 minutes with the way the line 27), and the bus on the way back by which time the visit was over and the wait at the bus stop served to rejuvenate your body.

You gotta believe me. The castle of Merlin was as beautiful as I had imagined. It was worth it. A real medieval castle, with colorful rooms inside and the outside with spiers, towers and stairs, everywhere you looked. Even the way from Compiègne in Pierrefonds was beautiful through what was a beautiful hunting lodge of the kings with the castle that suddenly appears in front of you. A really good day. 7.50 euro entry, 1 euro more than three years ago.
