Bucharest is a city frowned upon by most Romanians and Italians because it is classified as a dangerous, poor and sad destination. This is partly true as the large suburbs were reduced to a state of disrepair, but likewise remains a major European capital of all respect, full of history and a long tradition. For a quiet and especially low-cost weekend, Bucharest can be the best choice. It has two airports not far from each other. From the center the journey is very short.

From the outskirts of the most modern part full of shopping malls through the great main streets (boulevard), we arrive at the center, the heart of the city where the intersection of several streets creates a succession of all kinds of people. Shops and restaurants attract you and make you feel like a part of this new old reality. It is the safest place in the city with police located in strategic points of entry to the center. But it could happen that you run into a gang of Romanian children in search of money or valuable possessions. The important thing is to have nothing in view so as not to be attacked.

The presence of numerous Orthodox churches is an important signal in the religion of the East. Inside it is not permitted to use cameras and also at the entrance it is a good omen to light a candle with a small offering to the chaplain. The most important building in this city is the magnificent Parliament Building, not far to walk from the center, while a visit to Revolution Square under the Arc de Triomphe and the Ateneo Roman is a duty. The facades of these buildings have been a big influence of the architecture of the 30s for it to be known as the “Little Paris“.
