What to see in Amsterdam, Netherlands

It’s only in Amsterdam where you can find the weirdest and wildest things. This city is both creative, mysterious and open minded. There are a lot of issues plaguing the country from religion to weed and prostitution. Although this is the case you will be happy to know that Dutch core values are still intact. The gorgeousness of the city is not fading. Its historical places are very magical just like in the past. Tourists are certainly everywhere because restaurants are full and everyone parties till early hours of the morning. You can visit the city anytime of the year, however, during summer is the time when there are endless parades of various events happening. This includes the ever famous Holland festival and Gay Pride Parade. There are also a lot of concerts happening.

Van Gogh Museumis a must see if you visit the city. It was opened on 1973 and it holds a collection of almost 700 pieces of art. The museum serves as a diary of his journey from different parts of the world. This self taught painter is famous for his depression and mood swings.

The charming Begijnhof Kapelis a secret chapel for the Gothic church. This was built in the 14th century and is truly a place of peace. The place is surrounded by small houses and lush gardens that are well kept. It is said to be the oldest well preserved wooden house in the whole city.

Heineken Experienceis found in an old site of brewery. This is a well renovated attraction. There is a self guided tour if you really love the product. You will learn the history of the family and watch videos. There are also beer exhibits and afterwards you can gulp down a couple of cold glasses of their drink.

Vondelparkis vital to the city. If it is a sunny day, you should visit this park. People from various parts of the city gather in this place. You can relax and read a book. There are some that meet up with their friends here. The place has lawns, gardens and foot paths that you can explore.

Waag or Weigh House is part of the city’s old area. It was like a castle back in those days. Executions used to happen in the place. Today it is now a fire exit and it is where the archives of the city are kept.
