The city of Kathmandu covers the most territory and is the capital of Nepal known by the name of Valley of Nepal. It is located between Tibet and the border with India. It began its journey through history as a center of spiritual enlightenment from the 1960s when the hippie movement gave it a high reputation in history. When deciding to start discovering Kathmandu you should pay heed that it has reached a point where each area of its territory is listed as a World Heritage site.
Kathmandu City View
Kathmandu is one of those cities where the map can be very useful since the city is big and without an urban compass it can be very easy to get lost. So a tip would be to keep a map with you. We recommend starting a trek to get lost in its narrow streets, discovering history museums, its colorful houses called Newaris, beautiful temples and for this it is best that you start from the center. From here you can start on the Durbar Square where the best and most famous temples are located along with the imposing former royal palace and high pagodas with lots of naughty monkeys running through their ceilings!
