Ticino is found in the southern side of the Alps. Italian speaking residents are very friendly and hospitable. Ticino is a region filled with grand mountains and gleaming lakes. Strategically it is surrounded by Italy. You can say that it’s small Italy in Switzerland. There are over 130 Alpine lakes in the area.

There are major cities like Bellinzona, Lugano and Locarno. Lugano is the third largest banking hub next to Zurich and Geneva. The place is noted for classy shopping malls and botanical gardens. The city of Bellinzona is where you can find medieval castles and cable cars that go over the city.

In the world full of contradictions, Ticino is the greatest. The southern area is 100% Italian but very much part of Swiss. At first glance, it might seem that you are not in Italy because of the cleanliness and because the people are on time. However if you spend some more time in the area, you’ll come to realise it’s not Swiss. You will find drivers stopping for espresso. Newspapers being read by businessmen and locals are Corriere della Sera. Spend the early evening doing passegiata or taking a relaxed stroll all over the town. You can also ride a taxi where drivers think they are Italian natives.

Ticino is a popular place for Swiss German because they get blue skies, palm trees and crystal clear lakes. Although this is the case, they can still use their money to survive without knowing Italian and not worry about their security. Also known as Tessi, Ticino is your safe bet for a sunny vacation. It is very easy to access the location. The place can be reached by train. There are a lot of attractions found in Ticino.

You would simply love the local transport in the area which is called the Ferrovie Autolinee Regionali Ticinesi. This is beside the railway and bus services found in the area. These big buses can take you where you want to go in the region and it is a cheap way to travel. There is nothing better than seeing the whole Ticino by foot.
