Here are three strange buildings that can be seen in Europe (Netherlands, Spain and Germany). These buldings are great if you like the unusual, easy to get noticed and bring tourists and onlookers in the city.

The cube shaped houses

The cube-shaped houses are residential houses in Rotterdam (people live there) built in 1997 by a Dutch architect called Piet Blom. Rotterdam is the second largest city in Netherlands and the largest port in Europe. In fact these are not the first cube shaped houses. Piet Blom built his first one in 1995 in Helmond but gave the rights to a Canadian who built another one in Toronto, Canada. For the curious, be pleased to know that now you can sleep in one of these houses as one of them has recently been transformed into a Hostel.

The Dali Museum

This building is pretty weird, it is like a house where eggs live. It is located in a Spanish town called Figueres which is in Catalonia, near the border with France and is the capital of the province of Girona. This building was built by Salvador Dali who is one of the most brilliant and unconventional artists of the past century. Dali was born here, grew up and organized his first solo exhibition. Born as a theater, now the building is a museum dedicated to the Catalan artist, the Dali Museum.

The Waldspirale

The Waldspirale, which means spiral forest, is a residential building (again, people live in short), built in 2000 and designed by an Austrian architect called Friedensreich Hundertwasser (the person who conceived the idea for the Hundertwasser in Vienna). Inside the ”forest”, there are 105 apartments, a garage, a cafe and a bar. The bar and the cafe are located on the top floor of the building, while the interior courtyard, which has an artificial lake, is intended as a playground for children. The Waldspirale is located in Darmstadt in Germany, 30 kilometers south of Frankfurt.
