Angkor Wat, Cambodia

It was built in the 12th century as the main temple and capital city of the state. It was a sacred place of many religions, such as Hinduism and was dedicated to Vishnu, while today is a place of worship for Buddhism. During the 15th century after the invasion of Thailand, the temple was abandoned and soon was lost in the dense jungle. Discovered in 1860 by French explorer and it is not only the most important attraction of the country and the largest church of any religion in the world.

One of the biggest mysteries plaguing researchers and scientists is why they built the megalithic monument of Stonehenge in England. For years it was believed that this is a prehistoric astronomical observatory, temple of the sun or of the ancient Druids, nursing bodies and souls, and there were few, and those who believed it to work extraterrestrials. But recently a group of scientists who think they are nothing of the above but only in the first symbol of the unity of the people of Britain, who felt the need to build after a long period of conflict.

Impressive is the variety of building materials, colored mortar, the marble decorations and frescoes that adorn rooms and corridors. Visit the Minoan palace of Knossos, 5 km southeast of Heraklion. The grand entrance to the Throne Room is magical moment.
