Do you ever dream of the Norwegian fjords but your budget is not enough to fly up there? Do not worry as there is an alternative that may comfort you. We are talking about Furore, a small village in the beautiful Amalfi coast. It would actually be precise to refer to it as THE village of Amalfi. Nine hundred souls reside there all in all and it is a UNESCO world heritage site too, included in the list of the Club’s most beautiful villages of Italy.

The village is pretty because it is art in the truest sense of the word. Paintings on the walls of the houses and along the streets will welcome you and surprise you. However, the best part about this resort is the fjord. The sea creeps into the mountain as it forms a small bay, a micro environment that looks as if it was yanked straight out of a storybook with the boats of the fishermen and a small fishing village where at one point Roberto Rossellini and Anna Magnani used to live. Now it houses a museum dedicated to them. The beach slips into the sea and the mountain rocks plunge in the sea water. Mountains surrround the spot along with the river Schiano from Agerola which became the road between the Lattari that eventually empties into the sea.
Furore Fjord Heaven
Furore Fjord Beach
You can arrive in this oasis paradise in two ways. You can do so in comfort in the car along the highway of Amalfi Positano or, if you like trekking and hiking, you can venture along the path of the bats gone crazy, the Conca dei Marini which past the mills takes you to the fjord. What are you doing still sitting there? Get your backpack ready and prepare to depart!
