Bruges is certainly the most romantic and most charming town in Belgium, which is located only 100 km from Brussels. Luckily for you, it is a small city that you can explore in a day. Despite being small, Bruges has one of the best old towns in Europe, with beautiful canals like Amsterdam and has many attractions to see so it is one of the best destinations to visit. It is a city to visit on foot and / or canal boat and it is very simple go to Bruges from Brussels by train (the train journey between Brussels and Bruges is more or less one hour).
The Old Town
The old town
The old town is a must see and enjoy in Bruges as it is home to numerous attractions to be visited but it is also lovely to wander through the narrow streets. This wonderful city is even more beautiful at night so my recommendation is to spend the night there.
In Rozenhoedkaai you can get one of the most beautiful panoramic view of Bruges. It is also very close to the pier for the boat ride through the canals of Bruges.

The Markt Square and the Belfort tower
The largest square in Bruges is Markt and is the center of Bruges. Between its buildings stands Belfort tower, which is more than 80 meters tall and from the top you have very good views of the city. On Saturday there is an interesting market on the square, visited both by locals and tourists.
The Burg Square
Right next to Markt Square you will find Burg Square. The City Hall that is located there has a beautiful facade and there is also the famous Basilica of the Holy Blood (where they say there is a relic of Jesus) and a beautiful palace.
Cathedral of San Salvador
The Cathedral of San Salvador is the oldest one in Bruges, as its construction started in the eleventh century. It’s worth visiting its interior, to see the medieval tombs.
Church of Our Lady
The Church of Our Lady in Bruges was built in the thirteenth century. Its tower is over 100 meters tall and inside it houses Michelangelo’s work depicting the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus, similar to the one in the Vatican in Rome.

Boat tours in the canals of Bruges
The boat ride through the canals of Bruges is certainly wonderful. It is not comparable to Amsterdam rides but definitely worth it. The boats are caught in the Rozenhoedkaai (located on the Hoogstraat street) and they offer you rides of different lengths and the chance to get various views of the city.
