The wooden structure of the theater also called “the wooden O” was octagonal and had an open space in the center which served to let in natural light. The theater could hold up to 3000 people. Since the facility was open there was a roof to cover the expensive costumes of the actors in case of rain.

The shows started in the daytime and lasted late into the night and sometimes they made use of torches. Due to an accident the Globe with its designs were destroyed by fire and later rebuilt. On the flag that hung over the property was given the motto “Totus mundus agit histrionem” (world states).
