Sarande travel guide, Albania

Sarande or also known as Saranda is a small city found in southern area of Albania. It is situated between the mountains and sea. This is found on the opposite end of Corfu, a Greek island. The name came from an old Christian monastery. Travelers love to go to this place because of the Mediterranean climate which is 90% of the year. The history of the place is that it was invaded by Germans, Greeks and Italians for consecutive years. The center of the city is filled with a touch of communism. After the fall of this government, there are many shops and restaurants that were established.
The city also has a touch of Mediterranean because of the bay, beach and lagoon it contains. Most of the attractions are found outside the city. This would include the ruins of Butrint, Blue eye spring and Ksamili village. There is a coastal road that you can use that would lead you to various Albanian Cities. On the top of the city is where you can find the old structure of Lekures which offers panoramic view of the bay, mountains, Lagoon and Corfu. If you are planning to go to this place, you will need a visa and a return ticket.

The charming town is considered as an important tourist attraction. It has a nice view of the sea and there are exotic houses on the hill side. Are you looking for a place where you can relax? Then this is the perfect place for you to go to. Today most of the locals are Greeks and native Albanians. The colorful history of the place is seen on the town from its structure and culture. The attractions are a few miles away from the center of the town. One of which is an archeological site called Butrint. The site is mesmerizing and covers different periods.

Another attraction that is worth your time is Ksamili. It is a peaceful beach surrounded by small islands. If you want to swim then this is the best place to do so.

If you want to have a relaxing atmosphere and be away from the large crowd, then take a trip to Sarande. You can find quite a number of accommodations that can suit the taste of any traveler. There are hotels that are comfortable and affordable. There are some five star accommodations that can be quite expensive. Dining establishments are also numerous especially if you are going in summer.
