Thailand’s charms are endless. Whether you decide to stay in a vacation club on an idyllic island in the Andaman Sea or opt for a luxury resort in Pattaya, the delights which await you are never ending.
Many column inches have been written about Thailand’s beautiful beaches, and clients who have booked an Absolute timeshare for a week of well-deserved R&R will have mile upon mile of deserted white sand from which to choose.
Meanwhile those of you looking for slightly more action from your time spent in a vacation club in Thailand, there is a multitude of activities and events for you to discover.
One of our favorite events at this time of year is the Phuket Race Week, held in waters off the island between 17th and 21st of July.
The hugely popular regatta, which will this year celebrated its’ 10th anniversary, was hosted at the Cape Panwa Hotel and is expected to draw crowds from all over the world.
Organizers say more than 400 sailors signed up to the week-long regatta, with a number of chartered boats and crew from as far afield as the USA, UK and New Zealand.
The award-winning Regatta began with a lavish opening party followed by 4-days of world-class yacht racing. Beachside parties throughout the event kept both spectators and athletes entertained during the evenings, with a grand final party and prize-giving including live entertainment from Cannonball who travelled from Bangkok for the occasion.
Winds gusting up to 20 knots made for one of the best Phuket Race Week’s yet. The weather conditions delivered fast and exciting racing throughout. Following the four day event, the sailors of more than 15 nationalities were still filled with excitement despite the fatigue of this gruelling event.
Over the last decade more and more people have discovered the delights of sailing off Thailand and the region has become one of the fastest growing superyacht destinations in the world.
In Asia as a whole, there has been a 335 per cent rise in resident luxury yachts since 2008, with Phuket being particularly popular among the local sailing fraternity. The island is now considered as one of the key superyacht hubs in the Asia-Pacific region.
