And really, you don’t have to take any more time for it. You can pack a carry-on bag and take it to work with you on a Friday morning, head straight to the airport after work, and be having dinner in your destination city that evening. Spend a couple of days seeing the sights and be home in time for the next working week. Of course, depending on where you’re going you might want to tack a day or two on either side of the weekend, it all depends on how much holiday time you have available!

From the UK, there are often a number of different airports to choose from in the vicinity of where you live. Don’t always look at just the closest airport though, as you might find a better price or flight time for an airport that is only 20 minutes further from your home. For example, if you usually fly from Leeds Bradford airport, check any possible alternative flights from Newcastle or Manchester.

Overseas city breaks can be great for people to do by themselves, with the family or with a group of friends. Cheap flights have made the possibilities for where to have a get-together for a family celebration or a special occasion among friends almost endless. Travelling there as a group can all add to the fun of the trip.

So, really, it’s up to you to decide what you want to see of all that Europe has on offer, to pick the time you want to go and the people you want to be with when you’re there. Then you’ll be just a few internet searches away from the ideal weekend break!
