With all the travel deals available, going on vacation is more affordable than ever. This doesn’t necessarily mean, however, that you pay less where your flight is concerned. You could still end up spending more on your plane ticket than anything else.
How do you get the best flight deals then?
Choose your flight dates wisely
Ever wondered why a ticket offered at a low price ends up costing more when booked on a particular day? This is because the rate varies according to the day you choose to travel. Studies show that the cheapest rates fall on a Tuesday and Wednesday, so consider yourself lucky if your travel dates are flexible enough that you can fly out on Tuesday and fly back home on a Wednesday.
Book well in advance
We’re not talking about 2 months or 2 weeks here, but 54 days to be exact. Apparently, booking too far in advance or at the last minute doesn’t exactly mean a great deal. So why not start counting now to determine when your next flight should be.
Avoid delays to avoid spending more
Are you running a tight schedule? If one of your flights is delayed, you are likely to re-book just so you will meet your next appointment. There goes a good deal out the window. If you want to avoid such a frustrating situation, it is highly recommended that you book flights before 11 a.m. and after 11 p.m. The earlier you fly out, the better are your chances to escape delays.
So, fly on a Tuesday or Wednesday, book 54 days ahead and fly out early or after 11 in the evening. This formula should help you snag the best airline deals. It is also highly recommended that you don’t travel during peak season but mid season, where travel costs are still affordable and you can still enjoy what are on offer during the peak months.
