Vienna old and new

Vienna old and new

Take a walk in the 7th district of Vienna and visit the new shops all made and opened by new, talented fashion designers. Ina KentStreet fashion Sixa and the neoromantic La Petite Boutique have to be your first stops. If you walk a little further you will meet BuntWasche, a department store with children’s clothes and Stil a limited editions sports center. At Lindengasse street you can relax at the sweet, little cafes and small veggie restaurants. At the end of the street however, you will meet -the classical and Vienna’s most famous- Andreas Blocher pastry shop which serves the best hot apple pie and chocolate and is never crowded.

Vienna offers you hip opportunities in classical tourist options. Saying that Vienna has wonderful museums says nothing. What you should keep in mind however is that Vienna has renovated the relationship between classical tradition and hip culture. The MuseumsQuartier is the best example of this trend and a hot spot for the young people of Vienna. When the day is not rainy, its huge inside yard is crowded with 20something faces who hang around sitting and talking in its weird benches which consist of yellow monoblocks. MuseumsQuartier includes more than fifty organizations for art which spread around in its 60.000 square meters. MuseumsQuartier represents thus proudly the largest place on earth devoted to art. Here lies Leopold Museum with its super famous art collection of Klimt and Egon de Schiele. MUMOK is the second magnet of the area due to its heavy architecture that imposes itself in the atmosphere and ZOOM follows. Zoom is a beautiful children’s museum with lots of creative programmes. Don’t forget to visit the library and the super famous Quartier 21 with the autonomous art scene.
