It has been called the Helen of the West Indies because for centuries was an object of desire for the French and English. The island itself seems to answer to the other Caribbean islands which brag of their beaches with crystal clear waters, since it has something more: the mountainous hinterland is smothered in tropical forests which are a paradise for the lovers of hiking in the volcanic mountains. The Jade Mountain hotel overlooks the mountains and the ocean, with a breathtaking infinity pool surrounded by lit candles.
