Cheap and Cheerful Holidays

If you’re after a cheap holiday this year – whether it’s because you’ve blown your holiday fund on other expenses, or because you’re trying to squeeze in your fifth holiday of the year – there are plenty of ways to grab a cheap and cheerful break that won’t cost the earth.
Many locations are considered more affordable than others. Naturally, a two or three-hour flight is going to be much cheaper than a long-haul trip to the Caribbean or Florida, so searching for locations that are relatively nearby is a good place to start. The likes of Portugal, Malta and Spain are the obvious choices, and thanks to their popularity, holidays in this part of the world attract competitive prices from tour operators as well as scheduled airlines.
Take holidays in Spain for example. This wonderful sun-soaked destination features a huge range of fantastic holiday destinations, with the most popular being the coastal locations of the Costa Blanca, Costa Dorada and Costa Brava. These lively resorts attract holidaymakers in their droves every summer, who come here to enjoy a home-from-home environment in warm temperatures with like-minded people.
Many such holidays are competitively priced, but on top of that you can find some additional savings depending on when and how you book. Booking outside of the peak season and avoiding public or school holidays is a useful tactic, and if you book well ahead of your planned departure date – ideally a year or more in advance – you can also take advantage of early bird offers from the major tour operators. Another way to save money is to book a late deal, typically within six weeks or so of the departure date, which can see huge reductions on the original cost of the holiday.
The world is full of cheap and cheerful holiday destinations – it’s just a matter of knowing where to look.
