Belmopan City | The smallest capital in the world

The city of Belmopan has been the capital of Belize since 1970. It is located in the Midwest and has a population of 13.400 inhabitants. Its altitude is 76 meters above sea level and is one of the smallest capitals in the world.
Belmopan is also known as the Garden City due to the amount of vegetation that surrounds it. It is a mixture of ethnic groups like the Garifuna, Creole, Mestizo, Maya of Belize and immigrants from Asian countries like China and Taiwan.

Belmopan has a number of attractions. Visit the historical records of the nation where you can find more than 30.000 stamps, photographs, postcards and maps of 1990 1808. Other well known spots in Belmpan are Guanacaste National Park, National Park Five Blue Lakes, Nature Sanctuary Monkey Bay and Blue Hole National Park.
