Anywhere and at any time of day or night you will find a room, a bar or a restaurant willing to give you food or quench your thirst accompanied with music. From the Balkan turbofolk to something more traditional and folk, not to mention the great international hits. Belgrade enters in effect in the ranks of the great European capitals without fear of comparisons. Let’s start with the apartment. You cannot go wrong. If there is no place on the board there is the Nusic Apartment. Great location within walking distance from the center, away from Trg Republike and Moscow. The home is very spacious, clean and equipped with every comfort.
Belgrade from Above
Dedicate at least one morning to visit the citadel of Kalemegdan, a stunning location overlooking the two rivers that cut Belgrade. You can see the confluence of the Sava and Danube in the district of Novi Beograd. Around a show of lush vegetation inside the fortified citadel discover the Clock Tower, the Military Museum and the Monument of the winner. Put here the basics for your visit to the dozens of local, on barges or not, who flock to the rivers. The board is Frida, delicious for an appetizer and especially for after dinner.
On the return visit the beautiful promenade packed with restaurants, shops and majestic palaces leading up to Trg Republike. If you’re still not tired, continue from Trg Nikole Pasica to the Parliament. This is also the direction that leads to Kneza Milosa. Here were two huge buildings gutted by NATO bombs during the war in Kosovo in 1999. For a wonderful evening take a trip to Skadarska, a cobbled street full of quaint corners and cafes and live music which refers to the bohemian side of town.
